Yarr, International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sep. 19) has come and gone with much of the speakin' like a pirate. Aye and arrr. Deciding that the new patio wasn't nearly big enough for the people I was expecting for a Pirates on the Lawn party the evening of the 19th, I added six feet to the east and another twelve feet to the south. Even so, it almost wasn't enough. Okay, it actually wasn't enough --people were having to walk in awkward paths to get where they wanted to go. But everyone seemed to have a good time and they spent most of that time out on the new patio, so I guess it did what it was supposed to do.
Petey the Wunder Chicken (see http://petey.goblinbrook.net ) also put in an appearance, to everyone's delight -- a party just isn't a party without Petey around somewhere.
I've included some pictures of the new patio extension (though I don't know if it can be called an extension since I hadn't quite finished the first section yet before I decided to do the "extending".
